550 word statement of purpose why i’m applying to northern illinois university graduate program, things to include in this paper:

1generation of immigrant from Nigeria to U.S, did not speak english at all so i had to learn how too and learned really fast, first in my family to graduate from college with a degree as parents only went to high school. Graduated high school cum laude and top 5% of my class. i Have worked multiple jobs to help myself and support my family of 6. went to university on full ride scholarship, will be graduating from bachelors also with two university honor awards. Studied political science and minor in Broadcast journalism with a focus in urban policies. being African especially African women and how my parents sacrified their jobs and everything back home for me to have a better life is why i am pursuing a graduate degree. in my undergrad, i worked with NIU’s northern illinois university which allowed me to be in front of the camera and using that platform to spread awareness about the underepresented. I covered and worked on stories my other classmates were too scared to talk about (lack of food in other countries, dream action, students owing their own business against all odds, immigration, etc) and for political science i campaigned with Jeff Keicher who ran for a House of rep seat in 2018. During my undergraduate, i stood against all odds and problems that came my way and worked hard to excel at it. Being that I will be the first to graduate and hold a college degree is a blessings for me and my parents dream coming to pass. my goals is to get my law degree and use the platform to help and change people. I see myself as being the next Oprah or Diane Sawyer because everyone deserves to be represented and having this platform will allow me so.
